„From a mass of clay I pluck a small lump. As it rolls between my fingertips it turns into a sphere. Pressed against a flat surface it's now a dot, flat on one side, embossed with my fingerprint on the other side. I repeat: a second lump, I place it just overlapping the first one. I repeat: a third lump, a fourth lump, a fifth lump […] It's a Wednesday in March of 2021. I didn't have much sleep. From a mass of clay I pluck a small lump. I roll it between my fingers and put it into place, just overlapping the two hundred and seventy-ninth lump. The cup is complete.“
